Jesus was giving us all a clear warning not to invest our lives and treasures only in the temporary things of this world, but rather to invest in eternal things like the salvation of our own souls and the souls of those around us. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:20-21). Jesus said: “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. Perhaps one of the most famous passages is found in the Sermon on the Mount. The Bible has much to say about our hearts and our money. And it certainly cannot buy us out of our appointment with death. Money cannot buy things that are eternal. Most importantly, it cannot buy anything beyond this life. It cannot buy love, forgiveness, joy, peace or relationships.
